Rosacea (Facial Redness)

What Is It?

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition predominantly affecting the central face and most often starts between the age of 30–60 years.

Rosacea is a common, chronic skin condition and there are 4 different subtypes. The main type of rosacea known as erythrotelangiectatic rosacea or 'red face' is characterised by persistent facial redness and vessels around the nose, chin and cheeks. It typically has a relapsing and remitting course, with symptoms controlled by lifestyle measures, general skin care, medications, and procedural interventions.

What Treatments are Available?

Facial redness & vessels from rosacea can be effectively treated with vascular laser & lights. A number of treatments are required initially & ongoing management is essential to prevent recurrence. At Delta Dermatology we can organise a medicare rebate for your rosacea treatment depending on severity, as the treatment is provided under the supervision of our dermatologists.
